In accordance with Part A Section A-VI/4-2 of the Standard of Training Certification and Watch keeping (STCW Code) for seafarers as amended which established the mandatory minimum requirements and standard of competence in medical first aid

What kind of People takes this course?
Persons/people, who before being assigned to ship board duties or persons assigned, employed or engaged on a seagoing ship that are required to provide coordinated  and advance medical first aid in the event of medical emergencies on board a ship/vessel/marine craft.

What will I gain from this qualification? 
Participant at this course will gain the knowledge, understanding and competence including practical knowledge in the application of coordinated advance medical first aid in the event of an accident or illness on board, they will be able to provide medical care to the sick and injured while they remain on board.

What does the course cover?

  • The course covers;
  • First Aid Principles, care of casualties,
  • Aspects of Nursing
  • Disease management
  • Alcohol and Drug Abuse
  • Dental Care
  • Gynaecology and Pregnancy
  • Medical Care Of rescued persons, including Distress, Hypothermia and Cold Exposure
  • Death at Sea
  • Environmental; Control on board ship
  • Disease Prevention
  • Keeping of Records
  • Medicine and Medical Equipment
  • Surgical Equipment, instruments and supplies.

 Course delivery:Using combination competent and experienced instructors, classroom syndicate exercises interactive activities and practical training demonstrations.                                                                                                               

Entry qualification? 
Candidate must have completed medical first aid training and the STCW mandatory safety /induction program and a reasonable standard of written English.        

Course Duration:Three (3) working days

Career Development: The Advance Medicare will provide a basis for participant to develop a career in medical first aid or progression to take more advance professional first aid courses outside the STCW convention as amended.


Assessment: The course is assessed at the end of the final day
